Mobile Bar / Servers

In Houston: Four bar and bartending services are listed, three in Houston and one in Tomball; the one labeled entry beneath them is a retail package store rather than a bar company, in Spring. Texas law is what actually decides how you drink at your own wedding. A reception with genuinely free drinks needs no permit at all — the state's condition is that it must be open to any adult guest, not only to those who paid for a ticket — while a cash bar or a per-head drinks charge folded into the price is a sale and requires one. BYOB is legal at an unlicensed barn or garden site and illegal on premises already holding a mixed beverage or private club permit, so the venue's own permit status decides the question before you do. If you're buying your own alcohol, package stores in Texas keep set hours: Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 9 pm, closed Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Budget roughly $2,200 to $9,500 for a hired bar.

Buying the beer, wine and spirits yourself

These are retail sources, not event services — nobody here staffs your bar. Where your venue allows it, buying the alcohol yourself and hiring a licensed bartender to serve it is usually the cheapest way to do this line. The rules vary by state, by county and by venue, so confirm what yours permits — and whether your setup needs its own permit — before you count on the saving.
