Cincinnati & Dayton, Ohio

Mobile Bar / Servers

In Cincinnati & Dayton: This category is thin in this region: the crawl found only two (2) service vendors that met inclusion standards, and honesty is worth more than a padded list. Point yourself at the three labeled alternatives below -- those are retail outlets useful where the venue permits BYOB, not full-service bar vendors, and the distinction matters at contract time. State rules matter here too. Ohio venues generally require a licensed provider with the correct permits for private-event alcohol service, and Kentucky is stricter still on liquor by the drink; the two states do not use the same rulebook, so a bar plan that clears an Ohio venue may not clear one on the Kentucky side. If the ceremony sits in Newport, Covington, Florence or Fort Thomas, ask the venue for its list of approved providers before you shop, because working around it is rarely worth the fee it saves. For a Lawrenceburg venue in Indiana, ask the venue the same question early.

Buying the beer, wine and spirits yourself

These are retail sources, not event services — nobody here staffs your bar. Where your venue allows it, buying the alcohol yourself and hiring a licensed bartender to serve it is usually the cheapest way to do this line. The rules vary by state, by county and by venue, so confirm what yours permits — and whether your setup needs its own permit — before you count on the saving.
