In New Orleans: Four landscapes, and they price very differently. The French Quarter and Marigny sell courtyards — brick, banana leaves, a fountain, and a hard cap on guest count. The Garden District and Uptown sell mansions and their gardens, with St. Charles Avenue and the streetcar outside. The Warehouse District and CBD sell tall industrial rooms and hotel ballrooms that can take three hundred without blinking. Half an hour out, River Road and the Northshore sell oaks — plantation-era houses on the west bank, Tchefuncte River estates around Covington and Madisonville. October, November, March and April are the season; Saturdays in those months are gone twelve to eighteen months ahead, and any date inside Carnival, Jazz Fest or a Saints home weekend is its own contest.
