In New Orleans: Assume your guests will not drive, and plan as though that is a feature. The Quarter is a one-way grid with almost no parking, and hotels charge accordingly, so a shuttle between the hotel block and the venue is the single highest-value transport line in this city. A chartered streetcar along St. Charles is possible and is the most photographed thing your budget can buy. Two distances to respect: the Causeway to the Northshore is twenty-four miles of open water with no exit, so a Mandeville or Covington venue needs a real shuttle plan and a hard last departure; and the airport is twenty minutes from Metairie but forty-five from the Quarter in Friday traffic.
