Orlando & Central Florida, Florida

Officiant & Ceremony

In Orlando & Central Florida: Three service officiants made this year's list, with two labeled alternatives -- congregations -- printed separately below for couples who would rather book through a place of worship than an independent celebrant. The three service entries spread across the metro and the Space Coast rather than clustering in one city, which is honest for a region this large. On the legal side: Florida issues marriage licenses through the county clerk of court and a license issued in one county is valid anywhere in the state, so you do not need to apply where you will marry. Confirm your county's fee, waiting-period rules and any waiver options directly with the clerk, since the process differs by county even inside the state. Florida also recognizes notaries as authorized officiants alongside clergy and judges, which widens who can legally solemnize the marriage compared with most other places. If the ceremony is on a state park, county park or theme-park property, that permit sits separately from the license and needs its own confirmation.

Churches and congregations

These are places of worship rather than for-hire officiants. Many will marry members of their own congregation, or couples willing to join and complete a marriage preparation course, and some will not marry non-members at all. Several also price the building, the clergy and the musician separately. Ask early what they require of you — policy varies widely between denominations, and between individual congregations of the same denomination.
