Key West & the Florida Keys, Florida

Flowers & Décor

In Key West & the Florida Keys: Eight florists work the chain, four in Key West and one each in Big Pine Key, Marathon and Islamorada. Cost is driven by two Keys-specific facts. First, humidity: tropical arrangements, orchids, palm, banana leaf, monstera, hold up in ninety-degree afternoons in ways northern-style peonies and English garden roses will not, and imported blooms cost extra to ship and refrigerate to a florist whose walk-in was engineered for local wholesale supply. Second, wind: a beach or sandbar ceremony needs anchored, weighted arrangements or the aisle looks like a scattering by the time the processional starts. Ask the florist how they secure work in the wind, sand-weighted urns, buried planters, tied bases, and skip anything the venue prohibits on a beach permit, which usually means no petals and no confetti.
